I get asked this one a lot. "How do I get more listeners" well there is no easy solution to this. It’s a bit like starting a business. You don’t simply open a shop and hope people will walk in and buy something. With internet radio you have to decide on what you want to broadcast. How you will brand the station. How you will let people know about it. Don’t simply start a stream and hope people will find it. They probably will but not very many.
I’d suggest join this forum or others like it. Place a link to your stream or website in your signature. Post relevant things on the forum. Google will find you link and it will help (not a great deal though)
But you contribute to something (say a forum) and people read what you have to say and you’re bound to generate interest.
Tell people about your station. An email signature is ideal
Get posters made - news paper ads - exchange links on websites - offer to promote unsigned bands, they need as much publicity as possible and like to let others know where their music can be heard.
There are loads of other methods I’ve not posted here; perhaps someone else could share their thoughts.
